2005
The following year
Videotivoli summed up the experience and knowledge gained in
workshops, seminar and festival the previous year. And the sum was
large. The only big change made was the rise of filmmakers’ age
limit from 13 to 16. Like the first year, a lot of films were
received and screened: more than 400 hundred films were submitted to
festival from different 37 countries. The nine festival screenings
featured 159 films from Finland, Australia, Bangladesh, Egypt,
Palestine, Croatia and Serbia.
In addition to the screenings addressed
primarily to local kindergartens and schools, there were also three
special screenings. Videotivoli Screening 1 focused on fiction films
dealing with growing up issues. Screening 2 was a dedicated to
social commentary and Screening 3 presented animations with
different techniques and stories. The weekend screenings featured
award-winning films made by children from all over the world, as
well as other funny films made by preschool pupils.
The second
Animasters seminar (the fist took place in Norway in 2003) was also
held during the festival week. Animasters brought animation
professionals from all over the Nordic and Baltic countries and
Western Russia together to share their skills and know ledge on
animation.
